The weather here in Salt Lake City has been a little crazy.  We’ll have sun for a few days, then — suddenly — it snows.  In the morning, the snow from the previous night melts slowly off the new flowers as the birds sing and make nests in the trees.  In short, it’s Spring.  And we thought we’d share the joy of Spring with a wallpaper that reflected the season.  This wallpaper features some tulips from our garden on a marbled rock texture.  As always, we have resolutions for standard, widescreen, and i-devices.

So, I decided to make my own.

This Facebook Fan Box widget is fully layered and editable, down to the dividers inside the box.  The background is a shape with a stroke applied to reproduce the border around the Facebook widget’s iframe.  The size of the widget is 237 x 300 — which is what I generally use when I add fan boxes to sites I’m working on because it gives enough room to have an equal amount of padding on both sides around four columns of user photos.  The photos themselves are generic Facebook avatars that can be swapped with any image you want (or not).  All the text is editable and in Lucida Sans (which can be substituted with Lucida Grande for Mac-users).

This is version 1.0 of this PSD template, designed specifically for our own typical needs when we are designing mockups for clients.  It only includes the face-box-style fan box, but leave your comments below, and we might consider updating the template to accomodate different sizes or fanbox styles.

We were going through our texture packs and uncovered this one from almost a year ago that got lost in the cracks.  This texture pack is perfect for the Fall months, with several high quality images of dry leaves in orange and yellow and red.  A pair of warm wood textures rounds out the mix.

In our ongoing quest for awesome outdoor textures, we present our third all-purpose nature textures pack.  This pack includes a few beach textures, a couple rocky creek bed shots, and a bunch of different types of wood textures.  These pictures come from City Creek in Salt Lake City, Pescadero Beach on the California coast, and Butano State Park, a few miles inland from Pescadero.  As always, we’d love to hear what you think in the comments or see what you’re using our textures for.

We just got back from a camping trip where we spent several days in a tent, surrounded by redwood trees. It’s easy to forget there’s a world outside our computer monitor sometimes, a world with only the noise of water dripping onto leaves and gentle breezes, a world that isn’t divided into pixels and margins. It’s important, sometimes, to take a step away from the blue haze of our monitors and step into the real world just to keep our own sanity.

Last month’s wallpaper(s) seemed to be a hit, so I decided to do another one in the same vein.  The zip file includes high quality widescreen, standard screen, iPhone and iPad wallpapers in the following resolutions:

I’ve been playing with various photographic effects and grunging them up for the new jazzsequence.com design, particularly the headers and post thumbnails.  So, it was with those techniques at my fingertips and on my mind that I approached these two wood textures from an upcoming texture pack to create this month’s wallpaper.  And since we were having so much fun, we created two wallpapers this month.
