This month’s calendar wallpaper (and non-calendar companion) has a mysterious, vintage feel.  Dark shapes and strange symbols and half-forgotten memories drift across the periphery of your awareness and you’re not sure if those strangely familiar shapes are ominous or welcoming.

This wallpaper comes in all the usual sizes, with and without calendar, as well as an iPhone version.

I’ve been wanting to play with a steampunk-themed design for a while. So, I made that the goal of this month’s design. I started out with some watch pieces and I added in some grunge textures and played with the color palette. I really like the way the end result looks like rust, and has a real gritty quality to it.  This particular design started out just experimenting with some objects and textures with no particular end goal in mind.  My original plan was to do a WordPress theme or a Blogger theme, and I may still do both, or I may do something similar but new.

This wallpaper is what happened when I set out to do something with our holiday lights texture photos. It’s colorful and fun and you can look at it many different ways, since there’s lots going on. I’ve been catching myself staring at it on my monitor many times, dreaming of a connect four game that is as attractive and chaotic as this looks.
