about erin
erin spent much of her childhood in the library. She is a practiced dreamer and loves making and creating things, whether it’s cupcakes, drawings, jewelry or websites. erin’s background is old-fashioned pen and paper and other hands-on media. She loves a human touch in both art and in communication. Her Bachelor’s is in Art and Women’s Studies and she has spent long wonderful hours in printmaking, mixed media, ceramics, and pen & ink. She has been making art for more than 10 years (earlier artworks were deemed refridgerator art) and has been commissioned several times to design graphics for t-shirts and tattoos. erin is drawn to assymetry, sinuous lines and dynamic color relationships. She also likes chasing down new and rare fonts.
When not working on exciting design projects, erin likes playing with her kids, hiking, gaming, (yes, we’re a bit geeky around here!) and reading lots of books.
erin considers herself to be an artist, a mom, a feminist, a literature fan, an animal lover, a non-conformist, a caffeine addict, and one of those weird people who doesn’t really like chocolate all that much.
She likes not knowing the rules, because then she can follow her inspirations and dreams instead.
about chris
chris is a self-described geek and technology lover, having been playing with computers and html since he was a kid. he is always on the look-out for new gadgets, code tricks and advances on the internet and anything having to do with computers. he–
okay, the third-person thing has got to go…
i got my first computer in 1996 shortly after discovering this thing called the internet. in no time i was frequenting bbs chatrooms and writing html. i was also a regular at the local copymat, publishing fanzines and homemade comic books, and striking terror into the hearts and minds of neighbors and interlopers with my musical hybrid of goth, punk, thrash, and industrial.
in college, i pursued my love of creativity cross-bred with technology, studying film, photography, graphic design, music, and, oddly, existential philosophy. while there, i met this artist named erin and we swapped stories about the process behind our tattoos. after graduating from the johnston center at the university of redlands in 2001 with a bachelor of arts titled creative arts in the digital revolution, erin and i trekked to the land of red rocks and snow, where we were married a year later on beltane.
in 2007, we decided to follow our creativity and started ThinkTank Design Studio. chris taught erin the ins and outs of digital illustration and css, and erin taught chris new and fantastic ways of putting color together and trusting your instincts enough to break the rules. together we built up a collection of rockin’ websites. in 2009, we blazed a new artistic path as Arcane Palette Creative Design, to raise the bar and set a new standard for ourselves while staying true to our original intent — blowing away bad design. we’ve taken that goal one step further in 2010 by launching Museum Themes — Fine Art WordPress Themes, and you can read more about our commitment to innovation in the premium WordPress and Blogger theme communities.
our design has been featured in the WordPress gallery WeLoveWP.com for our Arcane Palette site design, and chris’s blog, jazzsequence. many of our textures can be found on TextureLovers, we have fonts on DaFont and Fontspace and you can download and rate our wallpapers on Customize.org. you can follow us on Twitter, Facebook or Empire Avenue.
